I guess a daily update on this journal is sort of ambitious at this point. I have to keep reminding myself that there are no academically-imposed minimum length requirements. Short is okay.

So I guess I'll shoot for once a week, and if there's more you get a bonus. Sound like a plan? All in favor, say "aye."

Aye.

All opposed?

The ayes have it.

I will be getting a new computer at home soon, I hope. Bertran (Lord Bertran de Banecroft of the SCA; more about him in a moment) is selling his to me so he can buy a new, faster one. I don't need anything super fast, just reliable and able to run a couple of compilers, a browser, and office software (and ICQ, of course). I also need a CDR for my heraldry stuff -- as I recall, Lady Mairgred said that the shire owns the SCA Ordinary on CD-rom. I'm looking forward to a new computer, even if it means I have to excavate my room to make space for a desk to hold it.

Okay, about Bertran: We're dating. Funny, really; I thought he was awfully obnoxious when I met him. He seems to mellow a bit when you get to know him.

He's a good man, and we enjoy each other's company. He makes me feel calm, which is really good, and he's helping me to laugh again. I'd almost forgotten how good that can feel. I guess we'll see where this goes.

I chatted with cy and sarah the other night via ICQ. (Mirabilis, by the way, gets my vote as the busiest-looking company web page in cyberspace. Way too much going on, boys. Tone it down.) Cy will be doing a whirlwind tour of the US in May to visit all his chat friends, culminating with going to see sarah in Wisconsin. (No, I haven't forgetten that names get capitalized. They don't choose to exercise that bit of English grammar when referring to themselves or each other, so I'm respecting that.) Cy wants to spend a day or two with me here in Massachusetts, which will be great. I've never met him in the flesh; it'll be good to give him a hug.

I told sarah about the SCA and gave her links to both her local group in Wisconsin and the one near cy in Australia (which is known in the SCA as the Principality of Lochac). She sounded really keen on it; I hope she gets involved. It would be way cool to hang with her at Pennsic or something, or go to Lochac for a war and see her and cy there. (Yet another expensive thing that I want to do.) Lochac's events look like fun. Besides, it would be fun to see the Aussie twist on things.

I got a wedding invitation from my friend Joti the other day. She left the 'Net a few months ago after getting badly, badly burnt by some total ass. I really miss her; she and I were close.

I'm glad she's found someone to love and trust. She wrote me a quick note on the back of the interior envelope that said we "were" good friends. I'm still her friend, and I always will be. I miss her presence on the 'Net, but if she feels that cancelling her subscription to her ISP is something that she has to do in order to feel secure, I'm with her. I just miss her. If her wedding wasn't in Idaho, on Saturday, I'd be there.
