   The images below are of the favor that I made for my boyfriend Iain, based on my arms: Sable, a bear sejant erect atop a mount in chief three escarbuncles argent. An escarbuncle is the heraldic representation of a shield boss, used to reinforce a shield's strength. I chose to use them because they look like snowflakes. The blue ribbon represents the love and fidelity we share in our relationship. (That, and he's a Scotsman.)

This detail shows the stitches and material that I used: silk embroidery floss on linen, using split stitch and satin stitch. I use Splendor 12-ply strandable silk floss.
